Your efforts and knowledge are greatly appreciated. I am not a contributor yet.
After April of this year (2024, I will have a better idea of my monthly budget.
I am a former law enforcement officer here in California and been a general manager for a government agency after my LE career.
Also, I am a member of my church security team.
In my opinion, it requires some organization. After your notification and comments on the shooting of the Lakeview Church, it brings concerns to my church.
The church I attend is moderate in size. The campus not only has the church itself, but also a campus with a K6 school. I am not certain of the grade levels of the school. I will follow up on this matter.
Since your Lakeview shooting notification, I will be drafting an email to the Pastor and express my security concerns.
For future reference; would you consider to have a live link for my church’s security team and leadership to engage in a presentation and a Q&A session?
As a new member of the security team and the congregation of only six (6) months, I will have to research if the church can offer a contribution for your efforts to host this seminar.
I have been hesitant to make mention of my opinion and volunteer to be involved with the security team and participation in the church’s band.
This is due to my current part-time position as the administrative assistant to the Chief Park Ranger of a small agency that has an urban and wilderness patrol area of 100 square miles. These Rangers are sworn peace officers here in California.
I am not desirous of a full-time position, but due to internal activities between the GM, park district’s Board of Directors, and the Chief Ranger leaves me the decision to seek more work time or not.
I am not a sworn member due to the fact my POST has expired and I have a hearing impairment.
My duties are strictly administrative and I am also tasked with implementing a mounted patrol unit and unmanned aerial vehicle unit to patrol and offer search & rescue in the rough rural areas.
Again, I appreciate your efforts on these matters.
I’m a licensed Security Officer by the state of Texas and work as both Uniformed (designated Level 3) and Plainclothes Security (designated Level 4). I work predominantly churches, but also secular events.
I’ve been asked MANY times the pros and cons of Uniformed vs Plainclothes security. Both have their advantages. Since I’ve been asked so many times, maybe it’s worth a few minutes of discussion.
Appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share with the community. I do enjoy the mini Bible study at the end of the video.
Church security is very important to us. Since you worked in law enforcement in CA before and you know how DAs work in your previous counties, I would like to get some insights from you about how likelihood an armed church security would be charged a crime even thought it might seems a clear cut on justifiable shooting to defend the intruder?
For example, the gun shooting happened in lake wood church in TX, if it was a church in CA, and a church armed security team who IS NOT off-duty law enforcement officer, and opened fire to kill the shooter, would he/she be charged ANY crimes at all? I fear that DAs in CA will charge laws abiding citizens to defend his/her and other people lives at any ways they can.
Keith, this is fantastic!! I don’t know what you’re schedule is like, but our church has two locations, soon to be three in the Chandler, AZ area. We would love to have you visit with us sometime soon to give some great advice & godly wisdom to our Safety Team Network.
Hi George. Keith has a video on that subject. He prefers identifying the team “on duty” members. We are opting for a long, light weight, deep red snap closure vest with pockets. I can send info if interested. The color stands out from “normal” but doesn’t shout “SECURITY”. In the front it simply says, “Welcome to Freedom”.
Well done, please keep a opening prayer, Simple is fine. it helps us to set the world aside for a moment and focus on the topics you have for us. Please keep the Closing prayer, we all need the prayer, the spiritual enemy will attack us during the week, or all week, Prayer is the tool for that job. We really have two enemies the person(s) who want to do bad in our church, and the spiritual enemy who wants to attack our mind, attitude etc. Blessings.
Greetings Team, I'm new to the group. I have been a believer in and follower of Christ since 2000. I belong to a church in So.CAL Just East of East Los Angeles that has 10,000 estimated members, we have retired LAPD, LASD, and me. We have team of about 10 Retired LE and we are augmented by prior military (Veterans), licensed security officers, and martial arts experts. We have a LACo Fire Paramedic and a private EMT on the team as well. I am not the leader just one of the team. We all wear civilian clothes, those with CCW are concealed with ID ready to show but hidden normally. We try to be friendly, highly observant, and ready to respond to the level of need. Thank you Keith, This is greatly needed for a time such as this.
God helps us do the job, but we have to put on our spiritual Armor.
Without getting too personal, do you live in an Apt or a house? The reason I'm asking is the suggestions are different. You'll have to figure out some things on your own.
The first three things I recommend are to use 2-3 inch wood screws in all door latches, latch plates and hinges. This will strengthen your door.
The next thing is to have LED lights that are motion activated on all exterior doors. They will light up brighter when someone is walking around this will alert you or your neighbors.
The next thing is to have stream pepper spray, on your key ring this is used to spray into the face of an attacker. Don't worried, if they are an attacker and you spray them then just get away. Let them worry about telling the police why they were peppers prayed.
Finely don't go out at night alone. Do your shopping in the Morning's You will find you get the best produce on Tuesday.
I am new to the channel but have lots of years (30) in the law enforcement. I am currently in charge of a security team here in Colorado. I look forward to further discussions on this topic of selecting candidates for the security team.
Hi Keith. It would be great if the team leaders could share procedures and experiences in a more permanent place than comments. I can certainly learn a lot from the other leaders. Maybe this is already possible but I am just ignorant of how to do it?

Should we wear concealed going into our church service, even though there are armed security personnel on campus?
