KG, another outstanding video. You're doing great work and helping a lot of people protect themselves and remain safe. No one else is producing this high quality content on this topic.
Our church requires all security team members (even off duty LEO) to conceal carry while onsite. I have a level 2 OWB holster for when I can wear something like a jacket. But, in the Texas summer heat, that's not always possible. So, I have a level 1 IWB holster I can cover with a shirt. Can you even get a level 2+ IWB holster?
No. I would not wear an IWB holster for security either. OWB is much more retainable. Find a cover shirt that will cover that gun up. Is it hot? Yes. That's the price we pay for protecting the flock.
After some research, I think I may have come up with a solution. If your church requires formal attire, then a light blazer may be your best choice. However, if you attend a more casual, come-as-you-are church, then cargo pants (or even shorts if that's alright) and a Guayabera shirt. It's the kind of shirt most men wear in places like Cuba, where it's hot all the time. These shirts are specifically designed to be worn untucked and are light, cool, and comfortable. Plus, the vertical lines that distinguish these shirts do a good job of breaking up and printing you may have with an OWB holster.
Great presentation on such an important matter. I know we are of different paths in our approach to serving the Lord, but Keith I just want to express my great appreciation of your training and shared experiences. Having a gun grab is everyone's nightmare that has to carry in uniform OWB, much less other protectors that have not woken up to this reality. Thanks you sir for what you do!
owb with retention is a great option for half the year here, but in summertime when people wear polos, t-shirts, or button ups to church there simply isn't an option for lvl 2 or 3. You'll have to forgive me, but I simply don't buy that you could effectively carry that AG OWB lvl2 concealed in the attire we would be reasonably wearing. It would print so hard that anyone with the slightest glance would be able to see it and wearing a jacket in august is probably the fastest way that you could oust yourself as armed. In our situation, the best answer most of the time is simply very effective concealment.
Do you consider a holster to be a level 2 if it has an index finger release? Granted it is more accessible by another person than an inside thumb release. But it would seem not really hard to get a finger on the thumb release too.
Great stuff! I forwarded this to my Deacon over Security specifically to address the retention issues. Thank you for your work! I’m a big fan!

Yes, any kind of a system that would have to be activated to get the gun out.
