How Your Holster Will Get You Killed
Most of you are carrying a level 1 holster, typically a kydex holster. This is a horrible holster to wear when on duty.
I went to Boise Krav Maga and had their students fight for their gun. The results surprised me. I filmed it and put together a video of the different levels of gun retention so you can make a better decision about the holster you wear on duty.
This is personal for me. Back in 1994, I was working a street crimes unit in plain clothes. I had my gun in a level 2 retention holster. I got into a fight with a guy fueled on methamphetamine and he disarmed me quickly. Over the next five minutes, he and I fought over that gun until help arrived. I survived and he ended up in the hospital. It could have been much worse. Take this seriously. Had I had alternatives I mentioned here, this incident never would have happened.
