Easter Mass Disruption at St. Patrick’s Cathedral by Pro-Palestine Protesters
During the Easter Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on Saturday night, three men were arrested after disrupting the service with chants of "Free Palestine". The incident occurred just before 9 p.m., prompting police intervention due to complaints about the disorderly group. The individuals, aged 31, 63, and 35, were charged with disruption of religious service. Their protest followed a larger pro-Palestinian march in Times Square, and at least some of the protesters were identified as members of Extinction Rebellion NYC’s Palestinian Solidarity group. The demonstration inside the cathedral, led by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, received mixed reactions from attendees, with many emphasizing respect for religious spaces despite acknowledging the severity of the situation in Gaza.
I’ve done a video on how to deal with protestors when they come to your church. Although it deals with armed protestors, it can help you prepare for the day they come to your church.

Theft at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church Over Easter Weekend
Over the Easter weekend, Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Philadelphia’s Tacony section fell victim to theft. The church had left its doors unlocked to allow parishioners to pray during the holiest week of the Christian calendar. Unfortunately, this act of openness led to an unforeseen event where a wooden donation box was forcibly broken into and the cash inside was stolen. Discovered by the church sexton, Tony Volpe, on Saturday afternoon, the exact amount of money taken remains undisclosed. The stolen funds were intended for community assistance and chapel renovations. Philadelphia police are investigating the incident following a report filed on Saturday. Church leaders expressed their hope for the return of the stolen funds and highlighted the importance of every donated dollar to their not-wealthy parish.
I’ve noticed an uptick in insider and outsider theft of offerings. I wrote an article about this that you can read below. Take the tips seriously. You don’t want to be the next victim.

Iglesia Cristiana Emmanuel Burglarized During Construction
Iglesia Cristiana Emmanuel, a church undergoing construction on Jackson Keller Road, was the victim of a burglary that resulted in the loss of thousands of dollars in tools and equipment. This incident, occurring on March 24th and caught by newly installed security cameras which church leaders initially thought were inactive, shocked the congregation. Despite the break-in, Assistant Pastor Isaac Gallegos, and the church, located in San Antonio for the past 12 years, refuse to let the theft diminish their spirits or halt their renovation efforts. Over $5,000 worth of equipment was stolen, but the church remains steadfast, expressing forgiveness towards the burglars and a willingness to help those who wronged them. The church, which moved to its current location this year after renting space off Vance Jackson, is hopeful that insurance will cover the losses and that the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) will apprehend the suspects.
I’ve been saying for you to get a 4k video system. This is why. We can definitely ID the suspects from this burglary. Next up, you’ll need a burglar and fire alarm. I love how Pastor Gallegos offered forgiveness. Sometimes we forget that part when we look at crimes like this. Get that alarm and get that video system. You need it no matter what excuse you’re making up (besides a lack of funds, I get that).

Trailer Full of Bibles Set Ablaze Outside Tennessee Church on Easter
On Easter Sunday, an alarming incident occurred outside Global Vision Church in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, where a trailer filled with Bibles was intentionally set on fire. The Mount Juliet Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene early in the morning after a trailer was found ablaze, obstructing the church's entrance. The church's pastor, Greg Locke, shared on Facebook that security footage captured an individual depositing the trailer and igniting it. A witness, who had arrived early for services, alerted authorities, ensuring a quick response. Despite the unsettling event, the church proceeded with its Easter services undisturbed. The act has sparked an outpouring of support and prayers on social media, with many condemning the act as a manifestation of evil. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, which did not result in any injuries. They have not confirmed whether the church was the intended target. The community is encouraged to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation.
I did a video breakdown of this on Rumble and YouTube. Go check it out.

Easter Sunday Fire Injures Six at Brooklyn Church
On Easter Sunday, a fire erupted at a historic church in Brooklyn, injuring six individuals, including several firefighters. The incident occurred while 150 parishioners were inside, all injuries reported were minor. The fire, which started on the first floor and spread to the second, posed significant challenges to the FDNY, with drone footage capturing the intensity of the flames. Notably, one firefighter had a narrow escape after falling through the floor but continued battling the blaze. This church, a staple in the community for over 100 years, holds countless memories for its members, some of whom have witnessed generations of family events there. As the investigation by the fire marshal continues, the community eagerly awaits answers regarding the fire's cause and the church's future.
I just learned the church did not have fire sprinklers. This is a huge mistake. Even old buildings can be retrofitted.

Demonstrations Continue Outside Monroe Church Over Controversial Comments
In Monroe, demonstrators have consistently gathered outside Bible Baptist Tabernacle for weeks, including on Easter Sunday, to express their discontent with Pastor Bobby Leonard's remarks regarding sexual assault. The controversy arose from a sermon where Pastor Leonard suggested women could be targets for sexual assault based on their attire, even stating he would not vote to convict an accused rapist if the victim wore shorts. This has sparked a call for accountability, not just for the insensitive comments but also for financial scrutiny. The connected Tabernacle Christian School received over $900,000 in state voucher funds in both 2023 and 2024.
I’ve written about this church and the people protesting them before. Just be ready to deal with protestors when they come to your church. In this instance, it is best to let it go and just keep a watchful eye on them.

Fayette County Priest Pleads No Contest to Sexual Assault Charges
In Fayette County, Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki, aged 66, entered a no-contest plea to a count of indecent assault against an altar boy, an ordeal that spanned three years at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Fairchance. This plea, announced by Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, means Kawecki will be mandated to register as a sex offender for a minimum of ten years. Shapiro emphasized the commitment to holding individuals accountable for child abuse, highlighting the case as a testament to justice for survivors and a step towards their healing. The assault began in 2004 when the victim was just 11 years old and continued until he was 14. This case came to light following a 2018 grand jury report on clergy sexual abuse in Pennsylvania, which has since prompted over 2,000 tips to the attorney general's office, including the one leading to Kawecki's charges. Following his initial leave in May 2019 amidst the investigation, the Diocese of Greensburg, where Kawecki served in additional parishes, is now working to remove him from priesthood, as confirmed by diocese spokeswoman Jennifer Miele. The diocese and Bishop Larry J. Kulick expressed their cooperation with the investigation and urged anyone with suspicions of abuse to report to authorities, reaffirming their dedication to victims' healing and protection.
Remember, where there is one sexual assault, there are many. Many more victims are out there not speaking out. This is a deplorable act and you must address it immediately, not sweep it under the carpet. That is not Godly. Each week, we profile sexual assaults committed against our flock. Each one is hitting the news and there will always be delayed reporting about them, many going back several years before they are reported. Look at my article below about how to keep predators away from your church.

Florida Pastor Becomes Fugitive; Kentucky Childcare Worker Faces Abuse Charges
A pastor from First Baptist Church Marathon in Marathon, Florida, has evaded court proceedings related to sexual battery charges, last seen fleeing the area. This individual, aged 62, was initially arrested and charged with the sexual battery of a 15-year-old, involving an incident on church premises where the victim was allegedly given a spiked drink. In a related case, a childcare worker from First Baptist Church Bowling Green in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was charged with multiple counts of child abuse. Surveillance footage at the church's childcare facility reportedly shows the worker engaging in physical misconduct with children. The Florida pastor's bond has been increased significantly as authorities intensify their efforts to apprehend him, given his extensive history across various states and churches. Meanwhile, the childcare worker's arraignment is pending, as investigations continue based on the allegations and evidence gathered.
Update to the case, he is now in custody in Texas. I did a video breakdown of this case here:
Historic Windows Vandalized at First Christian Church in Bloomington
Last week, First Christian Church in Bloomington, Indiana, suffered vandalism when two historic windows in an alcove were broken, apparently in an attempt to gain entry to the building. The incident occurred between the evening of March 25 and the morning of March 26. The damaged windows, clear, single-pane glasses measuring 5-by-7 inches, were part of the church's entrance, which leads to the sanctuary and other areas. Bloomington Police discovered dried blood on the metal frames surrounding the broken glass, indicating that DNA evidence could potentially identify the perpetrator.
Say it with me, “My church needs to have a burglar/fire alarm and a 4k video system.”
Easter Service Dispute Leads to Fatal Shooting in Dallas
In Dallas, Texas, an altercation that began as a love triangle dispute turned fatal moments after an Easter Sunday service. Dallas Police report that 30-year-old Joshua Andrews is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Denzel Branch following a violent argument near New Generation Church. Witnesses informed police that the confrontation was sparked by personal tensions related to Branch's ex-wife, with whom Andrews had been involved. The incident took place on March 31 around 3:25 p.m., culminating in Branch being shot and later succumbing to his injuries at a local hospital. Andrews, identified as the son of New Generation Church's lead Pastor and Founder, later confessed to the shooting and turned himself in. The church, situated close to the crime scene, expressed sorrow over the tragic event, requesting prayers for all affected. Authorities were able to recover Andrews' handgun and vehicle, adding to the evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Watch my breakdown of this incident below.
Church Youth Summit Threatened by Backyard Shootout
On March 16, around 8 p.m., a concerning incident of gunfire erupted in the Corlett neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, notably impacting the vicinity of the Zion Pentecostal Church of Christ. Pamela Huff, a resident of over 30 years, and her surveillance system captured a brief but intense exchange of gunfire involving at least three individuals trespassing in backyards and two others in the street. The altercation, which seemingly involved young adults or teenagers, led to a ShotSpotter alert indicating 15 rounds were fired near Harvard Ave. and E. 142nd St. One individual sustained a gunshot wound to the arm during the incident. The community was particularly distressed as the gunfire coincided with a youth summit at the nearby Zion Pentecostal Church of Christ, prompting attendees to seek cover. The shooting caused material damage to Huff’s property and left the neighborhood in a state of heightened fear and frustration, exacerbating concerns as the warmer months approach.
VBS and other extracurricular activities at your church should have some type of security presence for just such incidents.
Historic Black Church in Delaware Vandalized with Racial Slurs
St. Daniels Community Church of Iron Hill, a historic Black church in Newark, Delaware, dating back to the early 1800s, was vandalized with racial slurs over the weekend. The offensive words, including the word 'die', were etched into the church's siding near large propane tanks, raising concerns about potential tampering with the church's heating source. This alarming discovery led to the cancellation of Easter services, as church officials, including Pastor Joseph Field, prioritized the safety and well-being of their congregation. The incident has drawn the attention of local law enforcement and the NAACP, which is aiding in the investigation and the pursuit of justice.
There is no need to cancel Easter services. What you do need is an alarm, locked doors and a safety ministry. Then you can make sure everyone worships in peace. Never cancel your service.
LDS Church Targeted in Hate Crime
Police are currently seeking a suspect responsible for vandalizing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, with a hammer on March 31, 2024. The incident, which occurred around 8:15 p.m., involved the unidentified man damaging a window of the church located between Eighth and Ninth avenues on 60th Street. Captured on security cameras, the suspect was seen wearing a jacket and a medical face mask. No injuries were reported from this incident, which is being investigated as both a hate crime and an act of criminal mischief by the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force. This is not the first instance of targeted vandalism in Sunset Park, as two neighborhood menorahs were also damaged in possible hate crimes late last year.
If you look at the suspect photo, it is of minimal help. NYPD has a great facial recognition program that would have ID’d this man quickly, if only there was a good video system that caught him. You need a 4K video system.
Man Downloaded Child Porn on Church WiFi
An Oklahoma man, aged 43, from Miami, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography. Federal court documents reveal that the individual, using the alias “Freaktaboo” on an instant messaging service, was discovered by an undercover FBI Special Agent to have engaged in distributing explicit content. The accused utilized the Wi-Fi of a church he attended to download and disseminate the illegal material.
Many churches have open wifi for guests and members. But, do you monitor that wifi? You should be actively monitoring for malicious activity on your wifi. Almost every church has that “computer guy” that can set up safeguards for your church.
Armed Murder Suspect Stays the Night at Church and Attends Easter Service
A man that murdered his girlfriend fled to a Methodist church in Allegan County and let himself in through an unlocked door. After being found inside, the pastor let him stay the night Saturday and attend service Sunday, all while armed with a handgun. There’s a lot to unpack with this case, so I did a video breakdown.
Arson at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Verona, New Jersey
In the early hours of Thursday, an individual set a fire inside Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Verona, New Jersey, causing significant damage to a pew and the altar. Elliot Bennett, a 42-year-old local resident known to the community and authorities for past acts of vandalism at the same church, walked into the Verona Police Department and confessed to the arson. This incident is the latest in a series of vandalism acts Bennett has committed against the church, including damaging statues outside the premises last September.
Here’s is this week’s arson of a church. Each week we have at least one. You are more likely to have someone try and burn your church down than to have an active shooter, yet we spend more time and resources for that than the crimes that really affect us day to day. Get a 4k video system and a fire/burglar alarm. But, you should still train for that active shooter.
Denver, NC Church Dismisses Lead Pastor for Sexual Misconduct
A church in Denver, North Carolina, has dismissed its lead pastor following allegations of sexual misconduct. The decision was made public on April 4, 2024, as the church aims to address the situation and uphold its ethical and moral standards. While the specifics of the allegations have not been disclosed, the local sheriff's office has stated that it is not aware of any crimes related to the allegations at this time. This situation has prompted discussions within the local community about accountability and the measures institutions take to ensure safety and integrity within their organizations. The church has not provided further details on the allegations or the steps it plans to take following the pastor's dismissal.
I have so many questions. Was this sexual harassment, or was it something more sinister? With so many churches sweeping their sexual abuse under the carpet, you are going to have to do a better job when dealing with the media. Your church is going to need a press officer to deal with them and feed the beast. The worst thing you can do is stay quiet. People need to trust the church and this type of action does not help us bring people to Christ.
Asheville Church Burglary Leads to Arrest
In Asheville, North Carolina, a man was arrested for burglary after being discovered hiding in the crawl space of a church on Merrimon Avenue. The incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, prompting a swift response from the Asheville Police Department. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Bradley David Quick, faces numerous charges including four counts of felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, forgery, obtaining property under false pretense, identity theft, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting a public officer. Quick's arrest also relates to charges from a Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office case. He is currently held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility without bond, as the local authorities continue to investigate the extent of his alleged crimes.
Newnan Church Staff Member Charged with Child Sexual Exploitation
James Morgan Gravley, a staff member at the Newnan Church of Christ in Newnan, Georgia, has been arrested on charges of felony child sexual exploitation. The arrest, made on April 3, 2024, followed a Coweta County Sheriff’s Office investigation initiated by a tip concerning an IP address in Coweta County involved in the distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material. A search warrant executed at Gravley’s residence on Buttonbush Court led to the seizure of multiple electronic devices for further examination. Prior to his arrest, Gravley was identified on the church’s website as serving in the role of families minister. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office is proceeding with the investigation to process the evidence collected.
Look at all of the sexual assault crimes in each issue. This keeps people from coming to Christ. We have got to get this under control and church safety ministries have partial responsibility for that. We should be doing background checks on ALL staff AND volunteers. Look at the article up top that I shared that shows the signs of predatory behavior. Do constant checks in the children’s area to make sure they are safe. We need to do better. This is absolutely disgusting.
Thank you for all that you do!
Just sharing some fod for thought.
