Recent developments have significantly heightened the threat to our places of worship. Iran has ordered an attack on Israel, and the situation is escalating rapidly. Notably, Iran's directive was issued on July 31, 2024, marking a critical escalation in Middle Eastern tensions. In response, Israel has warned of potential global attacks, particularly targeting synagogues. There is a significant concern for lone wolf actors who may target synagogues and churches internationally. Additionally, the United States is deploying warships to the region in preparation for possible conflicts, underscoring the severity of the situation. You can read the detailed report here.
Domestic Threats
It is crucial to be aware that domestic threats are also a significant concern. Joint terrorism task force agents have indicated that in the event of a conflict involving Iran and the United States, there are tens of thousands of Hezbollah agents in the U.S. who may target churches and synagogues. This information emphasizes the need for heightened vigilance and preparedness. You can see my interview with a JTTF agent on the Hezbollah threat to American churches below.
Current Threat Level: Orange
We are currently at Alert Level Orange, indicating a high risk of attack. For more detailed information about our current threat level and its implications, please read my article here. With the current warnings from Israel and JTTF agents in the U.S., American churches should be vigilant.
Recommended Actions
Increase Security Measures
Review and Enhance Security Protocols: Ensure your security teams are alert and review all security measures. Regularly update and practice your emergency procedures to ensure everyone is prepared. Don’t restrict access to your church. It is important that people can come and worship in peace knowing that you have their back.
Conduct Security Drills: Regular drills help ensure that staff and volunteers are familiar with emergency procedures and can act swiftly and effectively in the event of an incident.
Stay Informed
Monitor Reliable News Sources: Stay updated with credible news sources and official communications for the latest information on the situation. I recommend two podcasts: The Wright Report and The President’s Daily Brief. Both give up to date information on world events and are reliable sources.
Engage with Local Law Enforcement: Maintain communication with local authorities and your community to stay informed about any specific threats or advisories.
Report Suspicious Activity
Encourage Vigilance: Remind your congregation to report any suspicious activity immediately to law enforcement. Quick reporting can prevent potential attacks and ensure everyone's safety.
Our mission is to protect our congregations and remain steadfast in our faith during these challenging times. By staying vigilant and informed, we can safeguard our places of worship and our communities.
Most importantly, remember your ABC’s… Always Be Carrying.
FYI: ~50+ of the folks you've mentioned were recently arrested east of the Denver Airport. For decades an |s|amic miItary training 'cIub' has been active east of Denver. Complaints to local, state, fed by locals were ignored. The weaponry used are known not pea shooters. Commonly stated by law enforcement: It is a private 'club' and to do any restrictions would be 'Racist'. Efforts were made to notify churches in the mountain area - at best the responses were shrugged off.
