Is the SB2 already law in CA? Is there any type of enforcement for churches to comply or will they only know if an incident occurs? How long can you claim ignorance of the law being in effect since it's so new? Our security team is armed and I always practice my ABC's when attending church and serving on the worship team. I'm just wondering if this is something I should discuss with our head of security, to see if he's aware of this. Oh, and thank you for all you do Keith. We are so fortunate to have someone with your experience and knowledge sharing so freely with everybody. I will continue to pray for you and for your ministry. May God continue to bless you.

Thanks for the Props Kirk. I think it takes effect on January 1st. Claiming ignorance will not help you at all and I don't see the police going to churches to check for compliance. I do see a rogue District Attorney coming after you if the shooting is in a backwards county like Alameda, Los Angeles, Contra Costa, etc (read George Soros backed DA's). Get with your church and get them to agree to the stickers to comply and cover you.

Yes it is Kirk. It went into effect 01/01/2024. There is good news though, please read my post above.

It would be great if your website had the ability to send form letters to Politicians like GOA and others do. But you do a great job and the best I have sean on the net. Can you start a list of bocks you would recommend on security. Example a great one to read on terrorism is called son of hamas by Mosab Hassan Yourself. I would love to see videos on report wrigthing and also videos on cameras that read plates on cars. I hop to be able to do some training with you. Thanks for what you do. I would also add the gift of fear by Gavin Debecker another very smart Bock.

I am filming a report writing class as we speak! Thanks for the great feedback Dave. I'll work on the reading list.

I live in Riverside, California and it doesn't cost $2K for a CCW. Or a year waiting for approval. Maybe if you live in Santa Monica or Los Angeles. But not Riverside. People also cry that it's so hard to get a CCW. It is not. If you can hit paper, practice before the actual test, you will pass. You can buy a gun, ammo, etc. as long as you are not a felon. There is a 10-day waiting period for guns. And starting July 2024 I believe, 11% additional tax on guns and ammo. Which is BS. There are lawsuits happening right now against the CA DOJ, and they know most people will not lift a finger over this. My wife and I do let everyone we know what is going on in Commiefornia, and speak up to the powers that be. Shall Not Be Infringed, right? But you can't beat the weather!

It does cost $2k in Santa Clara and Alameda counties. You’re lucky to be in Riverside County your sheriff is a pro 2A sheriff, which is why it is being done expeditiously.

San Bernardino CCW too. Still pretty easy. I'm not sure I'm against a little extra training. But seems that would be up to individuals to decide, not Sacramento. And right now S.B. lists private gun ranges where we have to "qualify".

This is clear action against American citizens to enable criminals to prey on Christians, Catholics, etc. simply because their God is not "the State" like the Democrats so desire. The willful ignorance of the inverted, contradictory facts vs claims of legitimacy of this law are based on pure absurdity. CCW holders are being targeted for what, specifically? Is there an epidemic of CCW holders at churches causing mass murders?

Yet they allow open public drug transactions and crime infested encampments to flourish among the prized cities which has led to a mass exodus from the Democrat-run nightmare with their Communist actions against the United States citizens. Turning their next states "blue" with fleeing citizens attempting to flee the tyranny they agreed to or allowed to drive lunatic policies based on lies and utopian BS that somehow guns in the hands of law abiding citizens is the root cause of all their crime and violence in their filthy cities.

Who derived and crafted the training requirements, based on their knowledge of the self defense and firearms training industry? These bureaucrats design and implement laws they know nothing of the topics of their very claims. Citizens these days are trained at a higher level than a number of law enforcement personnel, in some cases. Officers in many agencies are required to seek and fund their own firearms training outside the department funded training and even supply their own body armor. Only the most committed, dedicated officers develop into the competent and proficient fighting forces against evil and violent criminals preying on the unarmed, general public.

Sadly, this is not just an attack on law abiding citizens' rights, but also another divisive policy that will pit cops against citizens, hampering the very effective CCW impact on stopping mass shooters before they carry out their sick, twisted actions on innocent, unarmed people. It will also make law enforcement appear too frail to prevent, accelerating additional anti gun measures which will only perpetuate and solidify the manufactured crisis into the Dystopian nightmare of 1984 fiction. An ignorant populace is a bigger menace to society than even these fraudulent lawmakers claiming to be caring and virtuous.

Forgot to mention, Thank you Keith for your Substack article as well as both of your YouTube accounts and videos. Community awareness and education is vital to fighting against Unconstitutional actions of Anti-American politicians lining their pockets while making law abiding citizens more vulnerable.

What about just open carry? Clearly CA is trying to kill off churches by any means necessary. I'm thinking this is a long way from over.

Open carry has been illegal in CA for several years. This is one of the many reasons I moved back to the United States and now live in Idaho.

Another attempt by Empower Newsome to thwart church attendance and safety. I too spent 30 years in California Law Enforcement. I was fortunate to work in a border area that allowed me to reside in Arizona the last 9 years. Gleefully retired and still in Arizona and not going back!

Thank you for your service, as well as Keith's. Now we'll need to fight the Anti-American, gun control agenda of the illegitimate AZ gov, walking Conflict of Interest, Calvin & Hobbs, I mean Katie Hobbs... Between her and the notoriously anti-2nd-amendment Mark Kelly, the intentional worsening of AZ border security by removing barricades, they are manufacturing the very crisis we will face in communities of faith.

Very timely. I heard there is a hearing today with a Federal Judge in Southern CA that is seeking a preliminary injunction against the prohibited places portion of this law. Reading the studies, they cite incidents that occurred, involved criminal activity such as gang related, domestic violence, assault, etc. I saw nothing where actions taken by church security or cc persons prevented a, or further escalation, of a situation, which is a priority. Thanks for the info.

I just reread the text of SB2 and CRPAs challenge to it . The preliminary injunction filed by CRPA was supposed to go to the Federal District of Southern California last Friday, 12/20. Hopefully, there will be a ruling halting all or parts this unconstitutional legislation before 1/1/24.

Is there a specific sign that DOJ requires other than it being 4"x6"? ie a sign that has to be obtained from DOJ? I'm just trying to obtain as much info as possible before presenting it to my church.

Once again, some of our liberal, frightened, elected "leaders" want to assume everyone is evil. Their biased, fearful assumption is what is evil. Even Jesus urged His disciples (followers and students) to go buy a sword if they didn't have one!

Arkansas, where I live, leaves it up to the churches or if you have an enhanced concealed carry permit. This year they codified permitless carry.

It looks like a federal judge has temporarily blocked the “sensitive places” portion of the law for now. The Ca AG says he will appeal.

Ohio Law has never allowed cancelled in church unless you have the written permission of the church.

In San Diego county it isn’t 2k for a permit, but all in after training, it is probably around $1k. It is over a year once you submit your application to have your initial interview with the sheriff office. And SB 2 just invalidated the certification of most all of the state approved CCW trainers which will create a huge backlog (and cost increase) to complete the training requirements. Another challenge for some smaller churches is that they meet in shared locations, such as at a public school on the weekend. I assume that kind of “doubles down” on the sensitive places exclusion as you can’t carry at church or at a school.

Good point. I forgot about meeting in shared spaces. That does, absolutely, double down on banning guns in your service.
