Good question. When you’re in a shooting, most people experience auditory exclusion. It won’t be an issue. No need to train for it. Just Google auditory exclusion and you’ll see a number of studies on this issue. You’ll be good to go brother. Thank you for defending the flock.

Do you have a comprehensive list of deadly weapon incidents in houses of worship for the last (any number) years? Such a list may help the "pacifists" understand the need for security teams.

Thank you.

Observation & Question

I am a 73 year old male, permitted concealed carry and am on our church security team.

I have well over 300 hrs. actual handgun training, including tactical. I have no idea how many hrs. have been spent on dry practice and the range. 9 mm. rounds fired, 40,000 + easily.

Throughout this time I always had my electronic ears on, alwsys.

Recently at our Men's Advance a friend and I went shooting in a wonderful secluded area. My ears batteries were dead so I had to remove them to talk. Three time I forgot to put them on before I shot. The report was so loud and startling I failed to squeeze off my second round. I had actually forgot how loud a gunshot is. I was pretty upset with myself for forgetting my ears but with hindsight I'm glad it happened. No doubt most shooters are like me when it comes to ear protection.

How does someone train or prepare for this without damaging their ears? I have been thinking about this a lot ever since.

Thanx for reading my question.
