Keith THANK YOU so much for your excellent information. I've been a subscriber and watching your videos for a few weeks and I'm extremely impressed with your information and dedication to our Christian community.
My prayers are with you, your family, and your church family. Scott
Thanks for your diligent work on this. I am not on a security team but it helps me as I am seeing a need to CC going to church now. Who would have thought you need to start carrying a gun to church 20 years ago.
It’s sad. We had a great run in this country, but it is coming to and end. We are about to be persecuted for our beliefs just like other Christians around the world. it is written, though, that we will endure persecution and hardship.
Sounds good. Checks the boxes. Complete agreement with the criteria.
Unfortunately we are a nation of cowards. The military, law enforcement and our Safety Team haven't been able to recruit.
Our church approximately 1,400 attend in Colorado. And that's the problem, Colorado. Our Safety Team is three members mid 50s (no LEO experience or Veterans). Two retired cops and two Army veterans...... all in there 70s. We all carry, train and shoot together.
Out of 1500 people you don’t have any fire fighters, nurses or medics, Air Force or Army folks or regular joes with martial arts experience?
Perhaps your recruitment focus needs to change. I have recruited 14 people to help me on my team out of a church of 400 and I don’t believe we are tapped out. There are dudes out there I don’t know. All my guys are also getting involved in the men’s ministry so there is a lot of overlap
Our selection process was almost identical. Yours included a few more pertinent questions regarding an individuals thought process of handling difficult domestic issues that we will be adding to our interviews.
We have two teams at my church, the Kid’s security where I am and the rest of the church. I’m pretty much an “enhanced greeter”. I keep badgering the kids pastor who runs it for more training.
They just checked my background (been serving various ministries for a decade there so they knew that) and put me in a spot. Said barricade the door in case of active shooter.
I know the other team goes through active shooter training. All mine is on my own.
Hi Keith. We have different expectations for different functions. We use a older fellow to focus on the cameras. He gives the “on duty” front door team a heads-up on outside activity.
On-duty fellows carry air horns for a “all hands” response as well as radios and pepper spray.
Those on duty assign “off duty” fellows to primary “emergency” defense of critical rooms as they enter, nursery, toddlers, children, etc. All others respond to situation.
All of our team has agreed to run toward the gun shots but I pray that never happens, but if it does I hope courage overcomes fear.
We have no training for people quarreling or fights. That was a blind spot for sure! Thank you! I wonder what else we have missed. Thinking you know is a dangerous thing; you quit looking.
Keith, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Our security team covers multiple locations. However, even thought we have large number of security members, but those are just on paper. I stress a lot of that quality over quantity. It is sad to see some of our team members do not take their posts seriously. We have different team leads for each week and more or less they align on the ‘big pictures’. However, I am a detail guy and details matter. I am sharing your channel and other critical information to one of our team members. Our security director is new to the position as director but he has been with the team as coach for number of years and he is a former LEO. I might want to approach to him on this matter as well.
I've addressed this before in another article. The best way is to get all of your CCW holders together for a men's breakfast on a saturday morning. Then take them into the sanctuary and talk about what you want them to do, what the safety team will do, etc. I'd also include them in your active shooter scenarios so that they can realize what they will do and can't do in such a situation.
Thank you Keith. This information is an incredible resource. Our team is new, (5 months). As such, we’re still in the recruitment process. We’re a small church with less than one hundred, usually less than fifty. We have 4 dedicated members on the team with various levels of experience. The information you provided will help serve in the recruitment process as well as the evaluation of current members. God bless and keep you.
We have people try out for the band and for choir on the Worship ministry. Shouldn’t we at least have a try out for people that are armed and looking out over the flock? Good luck with your team. I’m glad you have one. May God watch over you all and protect you from the evil that persists around us.

Keith, that article was excellent! Thank you for all your help and getting all the great information out to church teams!
I'm throwing a shout out to my pastor Jason! He came up with all of the questions. He's doing great work.

We do have some active Law Enforcement and Fireman but their agency policies forbid them from being on the team. If anything happens they can jump in.
I don't know were you are but the Denver Metro we live under hard left policies.
Great article Keith.

Thanks for the awesome work you do for all of us.

Excellent information Brother!!! Thank you.
Excellent article. Definite gut check.

How do we manage all the CCW holders in the Congregation so they don’t start shooting towards the children’s area?
