I see a lot of comments about the Byrna system. I did an eval of it, but haven't written it up because I definitely cannot recommend. We used it in a scenario using their OC and kinetic rounds and it failed miserably. I do plan on talking to Byrna at the show to see if there is some kind of redemption we can figure out. I have held off of releasing the video because I want to believe it will work, it just did not work for us under the scenario we were using it on. We had a biker charge at us. The OC literally fell to the ground in a clump of powder on multiple different iterations. The kinetic round did not even phase him (he was wearing a t shirt). I think plain old pepper spray at this point is a better option. Just my two cents.
I'd be interested in budget gear that does the job without breaking the bank. (i.e. flashlights, less than lethal, protective gear, etc). Thank you and God bless you.
Keith, focus on vendors who offer products enhancing our Command Control and Communications (C3). Examples: CCTV recorders, comfortable lightweight radios, etc. I worked at Shot Show as a vendor’s rep for 2 years. Resist being seduced by cool firearms and tactical gear. Your subscribers already own weapons they like. In all battles, the master of C3 usually wins.
I agree with Coleman on the "latest and greatest", John Wick approved, tacti-cool weapons. While fun to talk about, I would guess that most of us are on small to medium churches and would benefit more from reasonably priced gear and training.
Keith - Wish I could attend. Any type of buzz you are hearing in addition to what you have reported on the overall threat level to churches. People talk there.
I am here in SoCal behind enemy lines watching the place burn - who knows who did it - diabolical to say the least. Many churches/parishes burned.
Stay healthy - your family and community need you.
I'll be at SHOT and would love to at least have a chance to chat with you in person and to just say thanks for all the great work you are doing with Christian Warrior Training.
With a focus on church security with small to medium security teams (with very limited budgets), I'm interested to receive your feedback on what impressed you the most at this event that could be very beneficial in helping these teams do their roles better. Thanks for all you do! Much appreciated.
Are there ever any vendors there who specialize in ballistic protection for crowds? For example insulation that could be placed in walls that could stop bullets, curtain or blankets that could be hung to prevent attackers from spraying a crowd with bullets or absorb shrapnel from an explosive device? Maybe look for both products that could be used to retro fit and products that could be installed during construction.
Most individuals can’t afford items from the show show let alone church security teams. Id much rather focus on education and scenario training and the things that we can realistically afford. I live here in Las Vegas. It is also very expensive for most to attend. Unless the shot show has changed with its vendors and has affordable items, I just think we need to stay focused on what is sensibly available to us. Off topic, I’m very happy with the court sentencing outcome of the bogus change today. PTL!
Mainly interested in training equipment to help with scenario based events. They have cool VR stuff, but just curious about some more low cost practical items.
Anything that could help with Church Insurance...as rates go up, coverage is less. Including eliminating coverage for the church when a civilian security team is armed. Even with extensive training and qualification standards. Any help or wisdom there is appreciated.
Please look for more capable, but easy to use, radio communication systems suited for mid-size church safety teams. Price is important of course. Thank you for all your good work on our behalf!
I am seeking information on non-lethal tools for aggressive "Visitors" to the church, Good flashlights for the Security personnel that are bright, durable and above all cost effective.
Identifiers, small discreet lapel badges that we can use to identify security personnel in the church without issuing "Security" T-shirts or polo shirts. Thank you for doing this!

Thank you for sharing what you learn. I am really interested to learn any updates on your 2025 seminars, too
Keith,
You definitely need to look into the LE Byrna. It's awesome, it has 50psi more than the standard SD Byrna.

Anything to do with communications or security cameras for church surveillance.
Radio equipment suitable for large school security team.

Personal protection equipment. Is body armor for church defenders practical?

Please update us on all things Glock! I hear they might release a carbine rifle!
