This Saturday, I will conduct a four-hour training session for my church security team. The training is designed to enhance skills in surveillance, ensuring the safety of the congregation while maintaining a welcoming environment for all who visit.
The session will cover key topics, including identifying suspicious behaviors, implementing effective surveillance techniques, and responding appropriately to various scenarios that may arise during church activities.
For those who are not on my team but are interested in similar training for your own church security teams, I have attached the course outline, which includes specific scenarios we will practice. This outline can serve as a valuable resource for training future team members.
Course Outline Highlights:
Introduction to Church Surveillance
Identifying Suspicious Behaviors
Pre-Surveillance Planning
Fixed and Walking Surveillance Techniques
Response Strategies and Role-Playing
Final Simulation Exercise
Scenario Examples:
Nervous Newcomer
Unusual Behavior in the Nursery Area
Individual Acting Erratically During Service
Group of Youths Acting Disruptively
Suspicious Vehicle in the Parking Lot
Below you will find the outline I am using for this weekend along with the scenarios (for my church security team, if you’re reading this I want the scenarios to be a surprise so we get max training value out of our training day).
If you are the one facilitating this training in the future, take a look at the video below to help guide you through the training course.
I love the Christian community of sharing information. Thank you Keith, I have printed out instructional material from you, for my team , and I give credit where it is due. Happy to subscribe and support you, given the returns we get. You recently asked if you should have donations or a fee for training at sites. The Bible says to compensate our teachers and I believe you qualify! Get compensated.
Our team of twelve just started monthly training in October, the resources you make available have greatly enhanced our program. Thank you for what you do for the Kingdom of God.
