Christian Warrior Training Intelligence Bulletin: Church Security Threat Level Update
Current Threat Level: Severe/Imminent (Red)
Extension Date: January 21, 2025 (Inauguration Day)
Intelligence Summary
The Church Security Threat Level has been extended to Severe/Imminent (Red) status until January 21, in response to a range of escalating threats both domestically and internationally. This heightened alert level reflects the elevated risks faced by churches and underscores the importance of proactive security measures to ensure the safety of congregants while preserving the mission of the church.
Threat Drivers and Analysis
Key factors supporting this extension include the potential for increased domestic unrest following President Trump’s recent election victory, which has heightened tensions among Far Left groups. With new policies anticipated, opposition could inspire demonstrations and potential violence, particularly targeting churches with a visible conservative stance. Churches openly aligned with traditional values should be especially vigilant, as protest groups may focus their activity on these sites.
In line with broader security measures, National Guard units have been activated in ten states, with others on standby, marking a significant escalation in readiness to counter potential civil disturbances. States such as Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, and North Carolina have already deployed National Guard personnel, and special operations units are active in some areas, indicating further measures taken to address possible unrest.
International developments add further complexity to the current threat landscape. Recent statements from Iranian officials indicate possible retaliatory actions against Israel and the United States, particularly following the assassination of a key Iranian leader in September by Israeli forces. Interviews with Hezbollah agents conducted by the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) in the U.S. have revealed that Hezbollah operatives could be activated to attack American targets if its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, were to be assassinated or if hostilities with Iran were to escalate. Nasrallah was assassinated by Israel in September. Intelligence estimates suggest as many as 30,000 Hezbollah operatives may be present in the U.S., creating a substantial risk to American entities, including churches, which are recognized as symbolic targets. Churches should therefore exercise extreme caution, assuming that escalated vigilance is warranted.
Security Recommendations for Churches
To respond effectively to these risks, churches are advised to strengthen on-site security while maintaining an openness to new followers of Christ. Key measures include increased personnel at entry points and, where legally allowed, armed security. Coordination with local law enforcement is critical, as these agencies can provide timely updates on threat levels specific to each region. Churches are encouraged to remain informed about nearby National Guard deployments, as these can provide essential support if protest activities intensify.
It is equally important to prepare congregants through security drills and clear guidance on evacuation or shelter-in-place protocols. While the situation calls for heightened security, churches should aim to maintain a welcoming environment for new believers and seekers. Security personnel are reminded to balance vigilance with hospitality, ensuring that safety measures do not hinder the ministry of the church.
Conclusion and Bible Study Reflection
In this time of heightened vigilance, we remember that God is sovereign over all circumstances. We encourage churches to stay open and accessible, especially as many may be seeking spiritual guidance in a time of uncertainty. As we work to protect our communities, we lean on God’s promise in Psalm 91:1-2:
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”
Let us draw strength from these words as we continue our mission, upholding both security and faith. With God’s guidance, we can provide a safe space for worship, trust in His protection, and remain unwavering in our purpose to welcome all who seek His peace.
As with the military there are defense conditions associated with threat alerts. Maybe an unofficial study on how to adapt these conditions like threat-cons or def-cons to risk levels applicable to local areas. Associated with conditions are measures. An example would be defense condition one measure is plans. More administrative requirements within that plan. defense condition two could include training and more security development of personnel. As a security/safety team member I ensured the office didn't allow personal information in the dumpster. They purchased a shredder. Shredding personal data is key in personnel security. Physical and other areas need to be included.
Keith, thanks for the good information. You recommended holding an annual Concealed Carrier meeting with all of your folks who currently or want to conceal carry on the Safety Team. Wondered if you would be able to share a sample Talking Points or itinerary for this type of meeting with the group? I think it would be a great opportunity to remind everyone of UoF and the Church Firearms SOP (which I dont have yet either). Currently we are only doing annual "Check up from the Neck up" list of 10 questions.....I prefer to do a group event with scenarios and such. Please advise. v/r, Doc
