In 2017, as a result of attending one of Lt. Col Dave Grossman's Sheepdog Seminars, I began volunteering at my grandson's K-8 Catholic School twice a week as a monitor out on an athletic field during their recess period (~2.5 hours). If you are following this website, you are a sheepdog, most likely at you church. If you have the free time to do so, please volunteer at you kid's or grandkid's schools. Be an extra set of eyes to watch for pervies (the most common type of threat you will encounter) or others who want to do physical harm to the kids. Unfortunately, many school administrators still have the "it can never happen here" mindset, despite Uvalde-like events, so develop your own plan how you will respond if an active killer event happens while you are on duty. Get involved, you will be doing the ministry our Lord has set before you!
This is a tragedy and many SDA are still clinging to non-violene even innocent defense. I am still fighting with our financial committee for alarms and modern camera systems. Especially after we just put in a state of the art digital sound board.
As the head of the security team, I only have 2 others for a weekly attendance avg of 125. And that's on top of my other hats.... I'm also on the board, and running the streaming ministry.

It is ludicrous to think that we can live in a fallen world, populated by people whose “default setting” is ‘every intent of the thought of the heart is only evil continually,’ and not expect to see violence occur.
My church / Christian School is protected by prayer, armed members and posted as such, strong metal doors, and other measures. I'm grateful that our Pastor is on top of these things. We still have the Joy of the Lord!
