If you are a member of the safety team at this church, I would love to talk to you all when you can. Just reply to this email and I can keep it confidential or help let others know so that they can learn from this incident.
This morning a potential tragedy was narrowly avoided at the Church at the Epicenter in Burnet County, Texas. According to the Bosque County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), an incident occurred where two masked men entered the church parking lot, one of them brandishing a rifle.
A quick-thinking church security team member confronted the individuals. Upon seeing the rifle, the security member responded by firing three rounds in defense of the congregation. Both suspects then fled the scene in a white van, heading north on US 281. The Bosque County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the situation and has urged other churches to remain vigilant.
I discussed this incident in more detail during a live stream on YouTube. You can watch the full breakdown, including my analysis of the security team’s response and what other churches can learn from this event, by clicking here to view the livestream.
Please pray for the safety of your congregation, your family and for God to give you the discernment needed to uncover the darkness trying to attack your congregation. Also remember your ABC’s, ALWAYS BE CARRYING.
I am home bound but my husband goes to a relatively large church for our small town. He is almost ninety, but carries a gun and still goes to target practice every week. Since he knows the head of security I hope this Sunday he will ask him more about the protection plan and he will receive the Information you offer if he doesn’t already follow it.
The main reason for my Comment is to ask for pray points to help me and others who will pray We live near a fairly large city whom I am sure could also use prayer covering. Thank you for what ever prayer help you can give us and also for your ministry. May God bless you richly!
Keith- thank you for your prompt post of the armed church intruders in TX. With God's grace, no loss of life or injuries occurred. The safety officer's quick response prevented the attack from coming inside.
I'd like to emphasize the importance of the outer perimeter. If you can see problems arise outside they can be addressed, preferably with back up notified. Once the threat is inside, the risk to loss of life and injuries to parishioners escalate dramatically, especially when attackers have long guns. Video and exterior sweeps help keep the outer perimeter clear and prevents the difficult to defend "blitz attack".
