Please remember that we are at a SEVERE risk of attack at American churches. Many churches have relaxed their security posture. I don’t know how else to make those people understand that the threat matrix in the US is very high against churches. Look at the sheer number of violent crimes and interrupted plots against our churches just since September. This week has seen a HUGE amount of violent crime at our churches. Please stay alert as we enter Christmas.
CRIMES AGAINST PERSONS
Gunman Targets California Christian School, Critically Injures Two Children
On December 4, 2024, at the Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists near Oroville, California, a 56-year-old gunman used a fabricated story about enrolling a student to gain access to the campus. After a meeting with a school administrator, he opened fire, critically injuring two children aged five and six, before fatally shooting himself. Authorities discovered a note indicating the attack was motivated by the gunman's misguided response to U.S. involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts. The injured children are in critical but stable condition, and the incident has prompted increased security measures at similar institutions statewide.
Watch the live stream, above, to watch my break down of this incident. I show how this school was ripe for an attack. If you have a school at your church, you much watch this and see if you have the same vulnerability.
Man Barricades Himself in Clarksville Church, Taken into Custody
A 35-year-old man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside Lifepoint Church in Clarksville, Tennessee, following a nearby vehicle crash. Deputies responded to reports of an unknown individual entering the church and locking himself in a pantry. Negotiators attempted communication, but the man refused to cooperate, prompting officers to forcibly open the door. The suspect reportedly resisted physically before being subdued and arrested. The investigation remains active, and authorities are seeking information related to the incident.
I’ll keep repeating this: When someone is running from danger (in this case, his danger is the police taking him to jail), they try to take refuge inside of a church. Why? A church is a place of sanctuary and safety… unless you’re a bad man. I think he forgot about Romans 13:4. This is my go to when dealing with evil. I’d love to hear your comments on this verse as it relates to stopping evil.
Romans 13:4
"For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer."
Nashville Man Arrested for Alleged Threats Against Church and Schools
A 26-year-old Nashville man was arrested on December 5, 2024, after allegedly making threats against Harpeth Hills Church of Christ and nearby schools through social media messages. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the man, previously involuntarily committed for concerning behavior towards the same church, claimed in his messages to be willing to die for his beliefs. In response to these threats, the church has hired armed security for services and events. The individual has been charged with making a threat of mass violence and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
If you are at a church in this area, try and use a FOIA to get the police report and find his social media pages. Then continue to monitor this man. His booking photo should be in your security room so everyone knows what he looks like.

Homicide Investigation Underway Behind Milwaukee Church
Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide that occurred on December 2, 2024, near 38th and Lloyd, in an alley behind Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. The victim, later identified as a 40-year-old woman, was found in a garbage cart with fatal gunshot wounds. Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and seeking information from the public. Authorities urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Milwaukee Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
There isn’t much you can do when a body is dumped behind your church. However, 4k video cameras would go a long way in helping police find a suspect.
SEX CRIMES
Former Employee of Tallahassee Church Facing Charges For Sexually Assaulting a Minor
A former employee of Morningside Church in Tallahassee, Florida, turned himself in to the Leon County Detention Facility on December 4, 2024, after being charged with alleged misconduct involving a 16-year-old. The incidents are reported to have taken place on church property. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, and church representatives have pledged their full cooperation with authorities.
This is the number one crime in our bulletin each week. Meaning, there are more sexual assaults, committed by church staff, than any other crime except property crime. This is disappointing on so many levels. I have friends that refuse to come to church because they were victimized by church leaders. Let that sink in… what are you doing to prevent sexual assault at your church?
Former Michigan Church Employee Faces Expanded Charges in Child Sex Crime Case
A former youth and music director at a church in Augusta Township, Michigan, is now facing 33 felony charges after an investigation revealed multiple alleged victims between the ages of 12 and 17. Initially charged with 11 counts in October 2024, the allegations include solicitation of child sexually abusive material and crimes dating back to 2014. The additional charges, filed in late November, include first-degree criminal sexual conduct and using a computer to commit crimes. The church emphasized its commitment to safety, stating that all staff working with children undergo background checks. The accused remains in custody in Washtenaw County Jail.
I’ve reminded readers several times that when a child predator is arrested, there will be multiple other offenses and victims that are yet to be uncovered. This is just an example. If someone is arrested for sex crimes and they worked, or currently work, at your church, you need to look for additional victims. The bible demands justice.
Isaiah 1:17:
"Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow."
Former Grapevine Associate Pastor Charged with Possession of Child Pornography
A former associate pastor of 121 Community Church in Grapevine, Texas, has been charged with possession of child pornography following an investigation by local police. The investigation began after a missionary couple reported finding spy cameras in a mobile home used for visiting families, prompting police to search the suspect's devices. Authorities found an unrelated image of child pornography on his phone, leading to his arrest. The church terminated his employment and stated there is no evidence his alleged actions involved local children. The suspect, who also briefly worked as a substitute teacher for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, had his teaching status terminated immediately after his arrest. Police are continuing to analyze additional electronics seized during the investigation.
This story contains a common theme popping up more and more lately…. a hidden camera in a location where we are all vulnerable. I think it is important to do regular sweeps of these areas for hidden cameras. I will do a longer article about this problem and maybe a class so we can all get on the same page and protect our congregations a little better.
ARSON
None reported this week. There are several arsons in the news that we have already reported as they wind through the justice system.
